TUTORIAL
Connect Codex
Qloud runs on the ChatGPT account you already have. Setting it up takes one terminal and a sign-in.
1Get the app
Install the QnA desktop app, free for Windows. QnA currently has no AI model of its own. Instead, Qloud is an agent harness: it’s powered by the AI model (LLM) behind ChatGPT Codex, on your own account. Until an engine is connected, the app opens on a “Connect an agent to continue” screen, which is where the next steps happen.
2Check your account
You need a ChatGPT plan or an OpenAI API key, and Node.js on your PC, since Codex installs with npm. Whatever it costs is between you and OpenAI, under their terms. Using Claude instead? Follow the Claude Code steps.
3Open its terminal and sign in
Under ChatGPT Codex, choose “Open Codex terminal”. A terminal window opens, installs Codex with npm if it isn’t on your PC yet, and starts its sign-in, which opens your browser to sign in with your ChatGPT account. There are no commands to copy; just follow the prompts.

4Let QnA find it
QnA watches for the sign-in and continues on its own once it’s done: the setup screen closes and a reminder names the shortcut that opens QnA from anywhere, even in-game. If it doesn’t, choose “Check again”. Settings → Agents then shows ChatGPT Codex as Connected.

5Choose a model
The engine button beside the message box opens the Agent dialog. Default follows your own Codex settings, or pick one of the GPT models Codex offers. The same dialog sets how hard it thinks before replying and how Qloud formats the guides it saves. A chat keeps the model it started with, so start a new chat to switch.

If it doesn’t connect
- The terminal says Codex needs Node.js: install Node.js, then choose “Open Codex terminal” again.
- “Still waiting for sign-in”: finish signing in in your browser and the terminal window, then choose “Check again”.
- Codex is installed but not signed in: “Open Codex terminal” skips the install and goes straight to signing in.
- Rather use an API key? Paste your OpenAI key (it starts with sk-) under Advanced in ChatGPT Codex’s section of Settings → Agents. It takes over from the sign-in, and it stays on this PC.
- Codex says it can’t save guides on this PC: its Windows sandbox failed a test write. Chats still work; choose “Test again”, or connect Claude Code to save guides.
