Guide Guidelines
What belongs in the community library, and what gets taken down.
In effect since
The short version
A guide on qna.gg exists to help another player get better at, or further in, a game. If it does that honestly, it belongs here. If it exists to sell something, to shock, to mislead, or to fill space, it does not.
These guidelines apply to everything published to qna.gg — the guide itself, its title and summary, any images it carries, and the author name it is credited to. They sit alongside the Terms of Use; where the two differ, the Terms win.
What makes a good guide
- It is about one game, and says so. Pick the right game when you publish, so players can find it.
- Its title says what it covers. “Malenia, Blade of Miquella — melee build and phase 2 tips” beats “my guide”.
- It is specific. Numbers, locations, item names and step-by-step instructions help; vague advice does not.
- It says which patch, version, season or platform it was written for, when that matters. Games change, and readers need to know how current a guide is.
- It is organised — headings, lists and short sections make a guide easy to follow with a game running.
- It has been read through by you before you publish it.
No advertising
Guides that are advertisements, or exist mainly to promote something, are not allowed. That includes:
- Guides whose real purpose is to push a product, service, website, stream, channel, server or community.
- Selling or promoting paid services for a game — boosting, coaching-for-hire, carries, account sales, currency or item sales, or real-money trading.
- Affiliate links, referral or creator codes, discount codes and sponsored placements.
- Cheat, hack, bot or unlock-tool vendors, and anything offering “free” skins, currency or items.
- Links placed to farm clicks or search ranking rather than to help the reader.
Crediting yourself is fine. A short line at the end pointing to your own video, stream or write-up of the same topic is fine too, provided the guide is complete and useful without it. If removing the promotion would leave nothing worth reading, it is an advertisement.
No inappropriate content
Do not publish anything that is:
- Sexually explicit, or sexualises anyone who is, or appears to be, a minor — the latter is removed and reported.
- Hateful — attacking or demeaning people for their race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age or similar.
- Harassing, threatening or bullying toward any person, including other players, streamers or developers.
- Gratuitously violent or gory beyond what describing the game itself needs.
- Promoting self-harm, suicide, eating disorders or dangerous real-world activities.
- Illegal, or instructions for doing something illegal.
Games contain mature themes, and describing a game’s own content — its story, combat or setting — is fine. Adding explicit or offensive material of your own is not.
Cheating and fair play
Guides may not teach or link to cheats, hacks, aimbots, wallhacks, bots, macros or automation that the game forbids, or ways to get around anti-cheat, bans or paid content.
Strategy, mechanics, speedrun routes and glitches in single-player games are welcome. Exploits that hurt other players in online games — duplicating items into a live economy, griefing, account takeover — are not.
If a technique risks getting a reader’s account banned, do not publish it.
Accuracy and honesty
- Do not publish something you know to be wrong, or a title or summary that promises what the guide does not deliver.
- Guides written with an AI agent are welcome — that is what QnA is for — but you are the one publishing it. AI answers can be confidently wrong, so check the parts that matter before you share them.
- Do not impersonate a developer, publisher, pro player or another author, or present a guide as official when it is not.
- When a patch makes your guide wrong, update it or unpublish it.
Spoilers
If a guide reveals story twists, endings or late-game secrets, say so at the top — a one-line spoiler warning is enough — and keep spoilers out of the title and summary, which show up in listings and search results.
Your work and others’
- Publish your own work. Do not copy another person’s guide, video transcript or wiki page wholesale and pass it off as yours.
- Quoting and building on other sources is fine — credit them, and link to them when you can.
- Game artwork, screenshots and names belong to their publishers. Use them to illustrate your guide, not as the whole of it.
- If you believe a guide on qna.gg copies your work, write to us and we will look at it.
Privacy and safety
- Do not include anyone’s personal information — real names, addresses, phone numbers, emails, photos, or account details — without their permission. That includes your own, if you would rather it stay private: published guides are public.
- Do not share accounts, passwords, license keys or anything else that grants access.
- Do not link to malware, phishing pages, piracy, or downloads that are not from the game’s official source or a well-known, trusted community site.
- Do not hide where a link goes behind a shortener.
Spam
- Publish a guide once. Re-publishing from the app updates it in place; there is no need for copies.
- No test guides, placeholders, gibberish, or guides that are almost entirely empty.
- No near-duplicates of the same guide under different titles or games to take up more of the library.
- No keyword-stuffed titles or summaries written for search engines rather than readers.
- Do not automate publishing, or publish in bulk.
Author names
The name you credit guides to follows the same rules as the guides: nothing offensive, no advertising, and no impersonating someone else. Leave it empty to publish anonymously.
How we moderate
We may remove any guide, or hide it from listings and search, at any time and for any reason — including reasons not written down here — without notice and without having to explain the decision. These guidelines describe what we look for; they are not a promise that a guide meeting them will stay up.
Guides are also ranked, and one that is thin, out of date or low quality may simply be shown less even if it breaks no rule.
If you repeatedly publish guides that break these guidelines, we may remove all of your guides and block your install from publishing.
A removed guide stays on your computer — nothing we do touches your local copy.
Reporting a guide
If you find a guide that breaks these guidelines, infringes your rights, or exposes your personal information, write to privacy@qna.gg with its link and what is wrong with it. Reports about personal information or the safety of a minor are handled first.
Changes
We may update these guidelines as the library grows. The date at the top of this page always reflects the current version, and it applies to every guide on the site, including ones published before the change.
